1st Year
October 2017 - December 2017
This was one of my first major projects when I started my BA Product Design Degree. This project was ran from October 2017 and finishing in December 2017
The brief instructed me to design a portable bluetooth speaker based on architectural features found within the S1 Postcode. The speaker must also fall into the market of the Local Design Retailer, Nest.co.uk. A final concept model needing to be produced to convey the overall design.
With this project being completely speculative and form led. A design was quickly formulated being inspired from the roof of Sheffield Train Station which falls into the S1 postcode. The design also took inspiration from the UE Boom Speaker with the large buttons and woven speaker covers.
During the design process and before the final model. A card prototype was made to display a sense of scale and form. The form was reduced slightly in the final iteration and can be see in the above photo.
To demonstrate my design. It was decided to get a photograph of the bluetooth speaker infront of the building that inspired it's form with the light perfectly showing off the purple details.
